11 Habits You Need to Get Rid of to Become Successful

@mirniazmorshed

We all have our bad habits, and that’s normal. But some of them may be the reason why your career or personal life don’t always turn out the way you want.

We at Bright Side want you to achieve the best result possible, and that’s why we decided to share these 11 bad habits that might stand in the way of your success.

1. You don’t speak out

Society constantly teaches us to keep it down, to obey, and not to break the rules. But if you don’t take any risks and if you don’t tell people what you think, you’ll never let something big happen to you. Make yourself heard, and don’t be afraid to express your opinion. Each of us deserves to succeed.

2. You’re always late

It may seem silly, but it’s not. A successful person is someone trustworthy and committed, so if you tend to be late, nobody will take you seriously. Here’s an interesting fact: according to San Francisco State University, consistent tardiness is related to anxiety, low self-esteem, and a tendency to look for problems.

3. You hold on to resentment

It’s not that you have to make everyone like you, or to walk through life and sing happily as if it was a musical. But don’t hold on to grudges because the truth is they only hold you back and have a negative impact on your life. In fact, keeping such strong emotions actually leads to health problems.

4. You are a total conformist

If you really think that conformity leads to popularity and success, you couldn’t have been more wrong. Every time you choose to be led by others and follow them no matter what, you miss great opportunities. Don’t be a conformist! Or maybe you think high achievers like Steve Jobs and Michael Phelps are always satisfied with what their future holds for them?

5. You are a big spender

Do you often end up with an empty wallet and a huge balance on your credit card? This may be a reflection of your financial future. Savings are vitally important, and being organized with money and finances marks you as a sensible person. Get started with setting your personal budget, and allocate some to your emergency fund.

6. You are a procrastinator

Those who can’t get over their bad habit of procrastinating know it’s a hard one to break. They miss opportunities to make money because they fail to finish their projects on time. They harm their reputation because they can’t keep their word, not to mention the stress that they have to cope with every single day of their life. It’s so not worth it!

7. You’re not being honest

Lying can become addictive, and one lie always leads to another. Soon you’ll find yourself surrounded by this vicious cycle you can’t escape. The solution? Be honest from the beginning. Sometimes it can be frustrating to see how others achieve success through lies and cheating, but it’s much more satisfying and rewarding to take the path of truth.

8. You complain too much

It’s a good idea to say what you really think, especially if you don’t like something. But you should never exaggerate. People tend to avoid whiners who are always criticizing something. To become successful you must be a people magnet, not a people repellent.

9. You drive people away

We are human beings, we live in a society, and, believe it or not, we do need friends. The key to success is having a big network of contacts that can get you out of any trouble in the future. The road to success can be long and hard, but with the help of others it can become much easier and enjoyable.

10. You don’t take good care of yourself

Always take good care of yourself, for there’s no greater gift than good health. Stress can become your worst enemy, so don’t let the hustle and bustle of everyday life prevent you from eating healthy food, relaxing, or going to the gym. Your body will thank you for that later.

11. You don’t work on your body language

Good first impressions are essential, but so are the second, the third, and the fourth ones. Believe it or not, your body also talks, and sometimes much louder than your words do. Learn to act as a reliable and self-confident person, and even if you don’t feel this way, you can still become that person. Always establish eye contact with the person you talk to, and keep an upright posture.
